Electric Bikes Brisbane Owners Club ride February - Brisbane River Loop

Thanks to everyone who came along for our first Electric Bikes Brisbane urban Owners Club ride on Sunday. We had a great turnout with 14 e-bikers keen to ride Brisbane's famous River Loop.

Riders started gathering at Electric Bikes Brisbane at Douglas St (in Milton) from 7.30am and we got things underway at 8am, on time. Luckily our Brisbane weather had taken a turn for the cooler too and we had a beautiful morning for some ebike adventure.

We had a wide mixture of electric bikes on show as well -- David on his full suspension Haibike AllMtn electric mountain bike, Peter & Rosemary on their Merida Espresso BOSCH driven stepthrough e-bikes, Diane and Rowena on their beautiful new Riese Und Muller eBikes, Barry on his speedy Earth TRex 29er e mountain bike and Andy on his hybrid with the Bafang conversion kit.

Also a warm welcome to Kerrie on her SmartMotion eCity, who has just moved to Brisbane, to Harriet & Cynthia and also to Peter, Mitchell and Norman who hired from our electric bike hire fleet to join in.

The Brisbane River Loop is approx 35km. It follows the south bank of the Brisbane River through the hills of St Lucia and the University of Qld, crossing the river over the historic Indooroopilly bridge. You then ride back to the city on the northern bank of the Brisbane River through the Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson, past the beautiful homes along the Corso in Yeronga and Fairfield, and up what is commonly known as 'Heartbreak Hill' at Dutton Park. You then take in some stunning city views at Highgate Hill and ride back along the river via West End.

Overall it was a fun ride and we all had a blast. Great weather. Great company and a chance to meet & get to know some like minded people. We had an unscheduled coffee stop at Tennyson where a flat tire provided some unexpected adventure. This provided an opportunity for the men to get to know each other better - no BBQ in sight LOL. 

The electric bikes were mightily impressive up Heartbreak Hill. Renowned as a killer climb on unpowered bicycles - and a favourite Strava King of the Mountain KOM challenge - the ebikes sailed up with riders hardly even breaking a sweat! 

We finished the ride back at Milton with a few peeling off at West End on the way through. Thank you to all who came along - it was a lovely ride and we are looking forward to the next one on Sunday 26 March. 

About the EBB Owners Club

The EBB Owners Club is a ride hosted by Electric Bikes Brisbane exclusively for customers and friends. Rides are scheduled on the last Sunday and each month we alternate between mountain bike / offroad rides and urban adventures. Partners and friends of Owners Club members are always welcome to join in and we have electric bikes for hire that they can use if they don't have their own.
