A tough eMTB with top trail tech
The Trek Rail eMTB platform is an electric mountain bike that comes with some exceptional talent. It is responsive and tough and incorporates the compact and light Gen 4 Bosch Performance CX motor with 500Wh battery.
The Trek Rail 5 model has a burly alloy frame with 150 mm of rear travel that fully encases a 500 Wh battery, an e-MTB optimised 160 mm RockShox 35 Gold RL fork, a powerful Bosch Performance Line CX (250 W, 85 Nm) motor that assists up to 25 km/h and a Purion controller. Plus, a 1x12 drive train with a wide gear range so you can always find the ideal cadence for the motor, a dropper post, powerful 4-piston brakes for more downhill confidence and 29er wheels with nimble yet grippy 2.6" tyres.
The 2021 Rail 9.8 XT gets part of its name from having Shimano's M8100 12-speed drivetrain. It has been paired with a 34 tooth chainring and 10-51 cassette, so heaps of range, and has the E*thirteen crankset with slightly shorter 165mm cranks for extra pedal clearance when tackling technical terrain. A dropper seatpost completes the package.
An eMTB that looks great, rides tough, and is a heap of fun particularly if you want to tackle the bigger more technical terrain.
