What is an Electric Road Bike?
Road EBikes are a relatively new category in the ebike world. Some are made for tarmac and some are made to also cope with gravel. Road ebikes are designed to enhance or extend your road ride while staying true to what road riding is about, where fitness and effort are valued. Therefore road ebikes are lighter in weight than other categories and feature road-oriented geometry with drivetrains and parts typically found on analogue road bikes.
How light is a road ebike?
The lightest ebikes in production are found in this category. The ultra-lightweights with carbon frames and top-of-the-range parts are just 11kg with the majority of road ebikes being about 13-15kg.
What is a Gravel EBike?
Gravel EBikes are based on Road EBikes however are equipped with tires, gearing and handlebars more suited to cope with gravel trails as well as tarmac.
