Electric Bikes Brisbane has proudly been the #1 GoCycle sales and service centre in Queensland since 2014. In 2014 the GoCycle G1 was the most innovative and advanced electric bike available and GoCycle have continued that trend now with five innovative folding models.
Here is an overview of the GoCycle EBike platform and the key differences between the current models.Â
Design Intent: An EBike That Is a Joy To Own and RideÂ
Designer Richard Thorpe believes an ebike should be elegant, desirable, a joy to live with, and fun.
So he pitted his experience in designing lightweight racing car components for McClaren, and his enthusiasm for innovative engineering excellence and created the GoCycle electric bicycle. His lightweight magnesium-cast frame, patented Pitstop wheels and clever integration are a nod to his automotive heritage and have turned the simple bicycle into one of the smartest transport machines around.
Every aspect of the GoCycle has been developed to the highest standards, with the main focus on usability & rideability. It has opened up a whole new era of (e)cycling - just pull the bike out, hop on and start pedaling. Simple.
The GoCycleConnect App
This clever machine measures exactly what the rider is doing and applies power accordingly. All you have to do is point it in the right direction. The GoCycleConnect app allows you to customise your power settings to how you like to ride.
You can quickly change assistance modes from City, Eco and full on Demand modes, and there is also the option to program your speed settings. Not so fussed on fancy tech? Don't worry. Just ride in the factory settings which are programmed for the majority user. Â
For those that love their tech though you can use the GoCycleConnect smartphone app for a host of features - upload maps, log your calories burned, track your distance. Even check the weather.
Another advantage of the app is that it doubles as an easy troubleshooting tool and security device, with a "kill" option to immobilise your GoCycle if stolen.
Compact, Light and Easy To Handle
GoCycle is the lightest electric bike in class. Thanks to its magnesium frame and superb design, at just over 16kg in weight it is the lightest production electric bike on the market.
This is an amazing feat given it is dual suspension and carries a large battery. It has a low centre of gravity with the removable battery seated neatly into the frame and the weight centralised around the bottom bracket. This makes it agile and easy to handle and it is easy to lift and manoeuvre at home.
It is also one of the most compact ebikes when folded, folding down neatly into an impressive 60cm x 76cm x 30cm space. Great for boats, cars, motorhomes and private aircraft. One of the things that makes it so compact when folded is the quick-detach PitstopWheels, another clever GoCycle-specific design, and more recently the new fast-folding hinge featured in the GX versions.
GoCycle Folding Frames – Pivot-Folding VS Fast-Folding
Pivot-FoldIng: GoCycle’s original pivot-folding design is still featured on some of the models. A design that won awards globally when first released, this involves popping off the wheels and pivoting the frame underneath into a compact and sturdy package. This design also comes with an optional docking station.

With the recently-released GoCycle G3C model you get the option of this frame in carbon. Approximately 2kg lighter.
Fast-Folding: The design that released in mid-2019 and reinvented GoCycle. Aimed squarely at the time-poor commuter and traveler this design is more like the traditional hinge-fold however with some very clever differences to strengthen the frame and ensure the folded result is still easily manoeuvred eg. using the seatpost to wheel it. With just one or two tries you can happily fold this down in just 10 seconds.
Complete Integration. Low Maintenance Living.
Clean and streamlined. One of the unique things about the GoCycle ebike is how streamlined it is.
Everything is integrated into the bike - chain, battery, cables, gears and controls. As well as creating the gorgeous clean lines that turns heads, it also means that you don't need to worry about the normal 'bicycle maintenance' things. For example there is no need to oil your chain, there is very little to get snagged and damaged, and having mag wheels means no pesky broken spokes.
Although GoCycles come with the option to add external front and rear lights some models also offer the daytime running light. Â This is a permanent light built into the handlebars with the sole purpose of ensuring that you are seen while riding.Â
Whether you are looking for a convenient way to get around once you reach your destination or simply appreciate beautifully designed machines you will love this electric bike.
GoCycle Range Summary
GoCycle have significantly expanded their range over the past 12-18 months, building on the very successful GoCycle G3 and GoCycle GS models.
The release of the fast-folding GoCycle GX in mid-2019 signaled the dawn of a new era with the release of two more models in rapid succession.
