GoCycle was one of the first brands EBB stocked when we started almost 10 years ago. A 20" folding ebike at heart they have always been ahead of the pack with their lightweight futuristic design and clever tech and engineering.
With their continual innovation over the years they have really cemented their place as a leader in the portable e-bike segment and we are excited to introduce their latest iteration, the GoCycle G4 (Generation 4), to Australia.
This is a collection which raises the bar again in performance, portability and elegance. In this article, we’ll cover what is new about the GoCycle G4, what makes them tick, what you can expect from each of the three new models, and why they are a standout choice for forward-thinking urbanites.

The GoCycle is the ebike created by the Karbon Kinetics Limited. When the company was founded by Richard Thorpe back in 2002, the vision was to create nothing less than the world’s best urban electric bike.
The first generation of GoCycle was released into the market in 2009 and it lay the foundation from which GoCycle keeps pushing the envelope for urban travel.

When Richard founded the company behind GoCycle, he brought along his knowledge as an industrial designer and experience working for McLaren Cars. From interchangeable quick-release wheels and fully enclosed chains, gears and cables, an ultralight magnesium frame and also a flat pack storage and transport system, he sought to produce an ebike that strikes the perfect balance between form and function.
The first generation GoCycle shook the ebike industry by introducing an injection-moulded magnesium alloy ebike. The G2 range was also the first production ebike to feature Bluetooth connectivity, and not long after, the G3 set another first by integrating the Daytime Running Light Feature. In 2019, they launched their GX model, capable of being folded and stored in less than 10 seconds plus a range of clever and very useful accessories for the practicalities of urban living.
The GoCycle is all about innovation and function. With their signature futuristic look they offer a very elegant and clever solution for urban mobility with a big dash of pizzazz!
The new G4 models build on fast-folding GX / GXi platform drawing even more Thorpe's F1 and automotive background, resulting in:
More power and traction control - a new G4drive™ which is quieter, has more torque and low-speed start capability and traction control (!)
Lighter weight - the range starts at 16.3kg now, almost 1kg lighter across all models, thanks to an all-new frame with carbon fibre mid-frame (pictured below), single-side carbon fork, and lightweight materials innovation. Plus, for the lightest available, the top G4i+ model comes with full carbon wheels.
Better handling - through the design of the new fork and how it links the chassis to the road, and better directional stiffness and comfort in the design of the new frame. They also come with new motoGP-inspired treaded tires which are infused with a silica compound for better traction
Improved connectivity - a leader in this area already however there is even better phone and GoCycle app connectivity, also an integrated 1amp USB charge port
Faster charging - a new GoCycle charger that enable faster charging
The new G4drive™ and gearbox has been in development for a number of years.
It provides a smooth and quiet ride, and is more compact than prior drive systems. What's great about it though is that it has traction control (very automotive!), and delivers more torque and low-speed start capability. Even from a standstill the motor will assist from the first push of the pedals, which can be a big help when starting from an incline.

There are three models to choose from in the GoCycle G4 collection. We cover the common features across all models here and you can read on further below for their differences.
Every GoCycle G4 comes with the following:
Lots of tech speak here! In a nutshell though they are clean in looks and form, comfortable to ride thanks to front and rear suspension front and balloon tires, and very easy and fun to use and live with. The bike can fold into less than half its volume in just 10 seconds and can be easily wheeled along or stowed away when folded.
Now, let’s look at the differences between the three G4 models.
The G4 is the most economical option in the range at AUD $6,999* and it is available in three colours - Electric Blue, Matte Black, and White - and can be characterised by having a different handlebar display. This model has the LED fuel gauge integrated into the handlebar without the daylight running light. It comes with mechanical 3-speed internal gears and the smaller battery, and is the quickest to recharge. If you prefer simplicity then this is a great choice.

It is their top model, and a variation of the G4i that has a lightweight carbon version of GoCycle's world-speed record PitstopWheels® instead of the magnesium wheels. It is available in bespoke Gloss Black and Red frame colours and is AUD $10,499*.
