• Full-power eMTBs: Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5, now up to 120Nm with Bosch's 2026 Performance Upgrade, in the Focus Jam2 6.9 and Sam2 6.9 and the Orbea Muga, and the Avinox M2S drive unit in the Amflow PR and PX Carbon, rated up to 150Nm peak.
• Lightweight trail eMTBs: the carbon Focus Vam2 SL with the compact Fazua Ride 60 motor, for riders who want an eMTB that still feels like a mountain bike.
• Belt drive and stepless gearing: most of our Riese & Müller range pairs a carbon belt with Enviolo or Shimano Nexus hub gears — no chain to oil, and gear changes even when stopped at the lights.
• Genuine car replacement: the Tern GSD P00 Gen 3 is rated to 210kg total and built to carry two passengers; the Tern HSD P5i is a slightly smaller 180kg-rated option.
• Heavy-duty touring: the Kalkhoff Entice 7+ Move Wave step-through is rated to 170kg for heavier riders and luggage, and the Riese & Müller Multicharger3 carries up to 65kg on its rear rack.

Touring, Trekking and Gravel

For long days on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail or a multi-day tour, look at the Focus Aventura2 FS 6.8 with its 800Wh battery and dual suspension, the lighter Orbea Kemen Tour and Kemen Adventure with 630Wh batteries, or the Kalkhoff Entice 7+. Frequently Asked Questions

Is it worth spending more than $7,000 on an e-bike?

Only if the bike has a specific job that a $5,000–$7,000 bike cannot do as well. For most commuting and rail trail riding, our $5,000–$7,000 range already gives you a quality motor, a big battery and comfortable suspension. Above $7,000 you are paying for a particular capability: carrying two children, a full-power eMTB with top suspension, a belt-drive bike with stepless gearing you barely have to maintain, or a luxury build designed to be ridden for many years. If you can name the job, this range is worth it. If you cannot, spend less and put the difference into accessories.

Should I choose a full-power or lightweight eMTB?

It comes down to how you ride. If you want to climb the steepest lines, ride long days, or ride with fitter friends without being left behind, a full-power bike with a Bosch CX or Avinox motor is the easier choice. If you ride mainly for fun on flowing singletrack, like the feel of a normal mountain bike, and will sometimes ride with the motor off or on a low setting, a lightweight bike like the Focus Vam2 SL feels livelier and is easier to lift and handle. Ride one of each back-to-back — the difference is obvious within five minutes.

Can a cargo e-bike really replace a car?

For many Brisbane families, for most local trips, yes. A bike like the Tern GSD is built to carry two children plus shopping, and with Bosch assist, Brisbane's hills stop being the obstacle they are on a normal bike. The questions that decide it are practical: where you will store it, whether your regular routes have safe paths, and how far the school, shops and work are. Why choose a belt drive with hub gears?

Low maintenance and clean running. A carbon belt does not need oiling and will not leave grease on your trousers, and hub gears like Enviolo change smoothly even when you are stopped at the lights. The trade-off is a slightly different pedalling feel and less gear range than a chain on the steepest off-road climbs, which is why you will find belts on our city, touring and cargo bikes rather than on our eMTBs.

Do Queensland's new e-bike rules affect premium e-bikes?

The bike rules are the same at every price: 250W continuous rated power, assistance up to 25km/h, and, since 1 July 2026, the EN 15194 standard with a compliance label. A full-power eMTB with 120Nm or more of torque is still a 250W e-bike, because torque is not the same as continuous rated power. What has changed for every rider is the licence: since 31 August 2026 you must be 16 or older and hold a valid driver licence, with a Learner licence as the minimum.
