Where Is Norco From?

Norco is a family-owned Canadian brand, founded in British Columbia in 1964 and designed and engineered at its head office in Port Coquitlam, BC.

Norco e-bikes are now available in Brisbane at Electric Bikes Brisbane. We've been fitting SE QLD riders to e-bikes since 2013, and Norco is our newest brand. It's a family-owned Canadian company that has been designing bikes in British Columbia since 1964. Our Norco range focuses on comfortable, lightweight city e-bikes: the award-winning Norco Scene VLT with its Shimano EP600 mid-drive motor, and the new Hyena hub-drive Scene VLT 2 and Scene VLT 2 ST from $2,599. They're built for bikeway commutes, errands and relaxed weekend rides. All of them are available to test ride at our Milton store.

Why Buy a Norco E-Bike from Electric Bikes Brisbane

  • - Brisbane e-bike specialists since 2013: We only sell e-bikes. Nick and Sam have been fitting Brisbane riders since 2013, and Jill since 2015, so we can tell you honestly whether a Norco suits your riding.
  • - Test rides from Milton: Ride the Scene VLT and Scene VLT 2 ST from our Douglas Street store, including the climb out of Douglas Street, before you decide.
  • - Built and supported in our own workshop: Every Norco is assembled, tuned and safety-checked in our Milton workshop, and warranty claims go through us to Norco Australia. You won't need to post your bike anywhere.
  • - Norco's limited lifetime frame warranty: Norco covers frames and rigid forks against manufacturing defects for their usable life. Shimano and Hyena drive systems carry a two-year warranty.
  • - Direct factory support: Since October 2025, Norco has supplied Australian dealers directly, with local parts stock and a direct line to Canada for warranty claims.

Norco Scene VLT vs Scene VLT 2: Which Is Right for You?

Both bikes share Norco's comfortable Scene geometry: an upright riding position, a swept-back handlebar, a wide comfort saddle with elastomer suspension, integrated lights and a rear rack. The difference is the drive system, and that changes how each bike feels.

  • - Norco Scene VLT ($3,899 RRP): Shimano EP600 mid-drive with 85Nm of torque and a removable 504Wh battery. It weighs 22.3kg with the battery and has a deep step-through frame. It also comes with a 100mm TranzX dropper seatpost, so you can drop the saddle at a stop and plant both feet. Choose it for longer commutes, bigger hills or heavier loads.
  • - Norco Scene VLT 2 and Scene VLT 2 ST ($2,599 RRP): A Hyena rear hub motor (250W, 40Nm) with a torque sensor and a 250Wh battery built into the frame. It sits at around 20kg. The VLT 2 has a crossbar frame and the VLT 2 ST is the step-through. Choose it if low weight, easy handling, price and a quiet, simple ride matter more than maximum range.

Riding a Norco Around Brisbane

Norco's Scene range is made for the kind of riding most Brisbane owners actually do: the Bicentennial Bikeway along the river from Milton to the city, the Kedron Brook Bikeway, café runs through Paddington, and short trips that would otherwise need the car. Brisbane's riverside paths are flat, but the suburbs around them aren't. Jill, who has been with EBB since 2015, rates the Scene VLT 2 as the best new bike in the shop. "I love how it rides. It's very light to handle and just smooth and easy. Great on hills too." The wide 27.5" tyres (2.4" on the VLT 2, 2.2" on the Scene VLT) soak up cracked footpaths and bikeway joins. The Scene VLT's full mudguards are worth having in a Brisbane summer storm. For stops at busy crossings, the dropper seatpost on the Scene VLT is one of the most reassuring features we've seen on a city e-bike.

Frequently Asked Questions About Norco E-Bikes in Brisbane

Which Norco is best for an older or less confident rider?

For most riders in that situation we start with the Scene VLT 2 ST. At around 20kg it's noticeably easier to lift onto a car rack, wheel into a garage or hold steady at the lights than many fully equipped city e-bikes, which often weigh 25kg or more. The low step-through frame means you don't have to swing a leg over. If you want more hill power or plan longer rides, the Scene VLT is the better choice, and its dropper seatpost lowers the saddle at the push of a lever so you can put both feet down at a stop. Try both back to back in Milton. The difference in weight and feel is obvious within a few minutes.

Is a 250Wh battery enough for my Brisbane commute?

It depends on distance, hills and how much assistance you use. We'd rather you tell us your route than guess. The Scene VLT 2's 250Wh battery is designed for a lighter bike and shorter trips: errands, local commutes and relaxed rides where you pedal and use the lower assistance levels. If your regular ride is long, hilly, or means climbing out of the river valley twice a day in high assist, the Scene VLT's 504Wh battery gives you twice the capacity and is removable for charging inside. Bring your commute to the store and we'll help you match the battery to it.

Should I choose a Norco or one of the other city e-bike brands you stock?

Choose a Norco if you value low weight, a simple and comfortable ride and sensible pricing. At $2,599, the Scene VLT 2 ST is a light, fully equipped step-through at an entry-level price. If you need a belt drive, a higher load capacity or a premium German-built touring bike, other brands in our range may suit you better, and we'll tell you so.
