Displays, Phone Mounts, and Navigation
Some bikes, like the Endeavour3 Move, come with the Bosch Purion 200 — a neat all-in-one display. If you want on-screen navigation, you can upgrade to a Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 display using a display mount or mounting arm, and our workshop can set this up for you. Bosch's Smartphone Grip uses the same mounting arm, so if you would rather navigate with your phone, it is an easy swap. This is a particularly popular customisation for touring riders who want turn-by-turn directions on longer trips.
Mirrors — More Important Than You Might Think
A mirror is the single most-requested accessory we fit. There are two options: a bar end mirror, which plugs neatly into the end of your handlebar grip, or a handlebar mount mirror. Either way, you get a clear view of approaching traffic and other bike path users behind you. A mirror is just as important for commuting in Brisbane city traffic as it is for touring on shared paths.
Tyre Valves — A Small Fix With a Big Payoff
Here is a small detail that catches a lot of riders out: the difference between Presta and Schrader valves. Schrader valves are the same as the ones on your car tyres, so they work with service station pumps. Presta valves are very common on quality bikes, but they are not compatible with service station pumps. The simple fix is a Presta-to-Schrader adapter cap — they are inexpensive, come in great colours, and mean you can top up your tyres just about anywhere. Sam's tip: always check your valve type before heading out on a tour.
Carrying Water on Your E-Bike
There are three ways to carry a water bottle on a step-through commuter bike, and not all bikes have the same mounting options. The lower frame mounts exist on some models, but many riders find them inconvenient and awkward when stepping through the frame. The front carrier mounting points are useful, but be careful the bottle does not knock your front light when you turn the wheel. Sam's recommended approach is a handlebar adapter that mounts the bottle right in front of you — easy to reach, no bending down.
Locks — Keeping Your E-Bike Secure
We recommend thinking about security in layers. Here are the four we fit and use most.
Abus Bordo Folding Lock
The Abus Bordo mounts directly on the frame mounting points — the same points used for a front carrier or water bottle. Its slim profile means it does not obstruct the step-through, and because it lives on the bike, you always have a quality folding lock with you when you stop. Abus is a trusted name in folding locks.
Wheel Lock with Adapter Chain
A wheel lock clamps the rear wheel so nobody can ride the bike away. It is not standard on all bikes and requires specific mounts. The clever part is the adapter chain: it plugs into the wheel lock and uses the same key, so you can lock the bike to a fixed object with a single key. Combine it with a folding lock and your bike is effectively double-locked.
Bosch Flow App Digital Lock
Do not forget the digital layer. The Bosch Flow App's eBike Lock feature prevents the motor engaging without an approved phone (over Bluetooth) or a Kiox display present. Bosch ConnectModule — Alarm and GPS Tracking
The Bosch ConnectModule installs inside the motor cavity — note it is not compatible with all bikes, as it needs the physical space to fit. When it does fit, it gives you a 10 decibel alarm triggered by unauthorised movement, plus GPS tracking while the bike is moving. It includes 12 months of subscription free at purchase, with an ongoing subscription required after that. Check the Bosch website or the Flow App for current pricing.
Comfort Upgrades — Saddles and Seatposts
Comfort is personal — we are all built a little differently. Our bikes come with quality saddles, but if you want a change, we recommend the Selle SMP range: wide city gel versions for relaxed commuting and trekking versions for longer tours. They are a great fit for most of our customers.
NCX Suspension Seatpost
The NCX suspension seatpost adds cushioning and absorbs bumps, which is ideal for Brisbane's mixed-surface bike paths and roads. It noticeably reduces spine fatigue on daily commutes and longer rides.
Dropper Seatpost
A dropper seatpost offers suspension plus the ability to lower and raise your saddle height on the fly. It is ideal for riders who want their feet flat on the ground when stopped — a more secure feeling, especially for newer riders — while still riding at the proper height. We stock dropper posts with built-in suspension.
Carrying Gear — Racks, Panniers, and Baskets
The most important cargo question is simple: what rack do you have, and what is its weight rating? Always check before you load up.
MIK HD Rack — 27 kg Capacity
The Endeavour3 Move comes with a MIK HD (Heavy Duty) rack. The HD version carries up to 27 kg and can accommodate a child seat, unlike the standard MIK. MIK-compatible accessories work on both, though the positioning sometimes needs a minor adjustment.
Basil MIK Accessories — Clip-In, Clip-Out
Our preferred MIK accessory brand is Basil, thanks to its quick-release clip-in/clip-out system. Options include baskets, trunk bags, dog baskets, and the Basil MIK double panniers, which sit across the top of the rack and can be paired with an adapter rack to stack a basket on top. They are durable, practical, and great-looking.
Ortlieb Panniers — QL2.1 Mounting System
Ortlieb panniers with the QL2.1 mounting system attach directly to the side rails of the MIK HD rack. They are the choice for serious commuters and tourers who want waterproof, purpose-built panniers, and they can be run alongside a trunk bag or basket on top for maximum carrying capacity.
