At Electric Bikes Brisbane, we have stocked Focus eMTBs since 2015. As the leading Brisbane Focus dealer we don't just sell these bikes. Sam, our co-owner, rides a Focus Jam2 6.9. Alexander, our head technician, rides a Focus Sam2 6.7. Alex, our senior technician, rides a Focus Jam2 8.9. When you pick up a Focus eMTB from our Milton store, it is built, tuned and tested by people who ride the same trails you do.
The 2026 Focus eMTB range — Thron2, Jam2 and Sam2 — is the most complete redesign Focus has done in a decade. Every model has been rebuilt from the ground up: new geometry, new suspension platforms, and all now powered by the Bosch Gen 5 CX motor with up to 120Nm of torque. We attended the Australian launch in Adelaide. In our view, this is the best electric mountain bike range Focus has ever made.
The 2026 Focus eMTB Range at a Glance
Focus Thron2 — Trail Comfort and Adventure Touring
The Thron2 is the go-to bike in the Focus range for riders who want to do a bit of everything. It is most at home on flowy single track and rail trail adventures, but with 150/140mm travel, custom-tuned suspension and Bosch Gen 5 CX power, it can handle green and some blue-grade trails. The 2026 redesign makes it a genuine mountain bike — not just a comfortable trail explorer — while keeping the long-distance touring capability that Thron riders love.
The Thron2 is ideal if you are returning to riding after a break, exploring SE QLD's trail networks for the first time, or want a bike that transitions from a rail trail one weekend to Daisy Hill's flow trails the next. The Thron2 6.7 starts at $6,299 and the top-spec Thron2 6.8 with ABS braking and RockShox Psylo Silver forks is $7,999.
Focus Jam2 — All-Mountain eMTB for Every Trail
The Jam2 is the all-mountain bike of the Focus range — fast, fun, and capable on everything from green trails to black runs. The 2026 Jam2 has 160/150mm travel, redesigned geometry that seats you low and centred in the frame, and suspension tuned for traction on the way up and manoeuvrability on the way down. It jumps well, it corners hard, and it handles rock gardens and switchbacks with equal confidence.
Sam, our co-owner, rode the Jam2 6.9 on Kombi at Ironbark after six months off the bike nursing a back injury. She wasn't trying to go fast — she was just trying to enjoy the ride. The bike took 30 seconds off her best-ever time. "The bike did everything for me," she said. "Very planted through corners. Doesn't move around in the rough stuff. Going off drops and through rock gardens, it just holds its line. It's very composed."
The Jam2 6.7 starts at $6,499. The top-spec Jam2 6.9 with Fox 36 Performance Elite forks, DT Swiss wheels and Deore XT drivetrain is $9,499.
Focus Sam2 — Enduro and Downhill eMTB
The Sam2 is for thrill-seekers. With 170mm travel, coil shocks across the range, a 29"/27.5" mullet wheel setup and 4-piston brakes with 220mm rotors, the Sam2 is built to be ridden hard — on Pipeline at Gap Creek, down Mount Joyce off the top of Clear Mountain, at Boomerang Bike Park, and on the fast, rough, jump-laden trails at Ironbark. The faster you go on a Sam2, the better it feels.
In 2026, QLD eMTB and Masters 2 Downhill State Champion Ken West — an Electric Bikes Brisbane sponsored rider — raced his Focus Sam2 6.9 straight out of the box. Zero modifications beyond trimming his handlebars 10mm each side. He stepped onto the podium at the Renegade Gravity Enduro in Stanthorpe and took first place at the Outlaw Downhill Series in Coffs Harbour.
The Sam2 6.8 starts at $8,499. The top-spec Sam2 6.0 with RockShox ZEB Ultimate forks and SRAM GX AXS Transmission is $12,499.
Run-Out Focus eMTBs From $3,999
Right now we have a small selection of 2024/25 Focus eMTBs — all brand new, all Bosch-powered, all German-made. Stock includes:
- Focus Thron2 6.7 in XL — from $3,999
- Focus Thron2 6.9 (750Wh battery) in Medium — from $3,999
- Focus Sam2 6.7 in Medium and XL — from $3,999
These bikes are powered by the Bosch Gen 4 CX motor rather than the new Gen 5, and the geometry predates the 2026 redesign. Once these are gone, they are gone.

Bosch Gen 5 CX — What You Need to Know
All 2026 Focus eMTBs are powered by the Bosch Gen 5 CX motor — smaller, quieter and lighter than Gen 4, tunable up to 120Nm of torque. Sam rides 90% of her trail time in eMTB mode, switching to Turbo only for pinch climbs. Alexander customises his Flow app for max power from the first pedal stroke. Both approaches work — the Flow app lets you dial it to your style.
Range: Sam gets 50-55km from 600Wh riding hard on trails like Kombi and Ironbark. A 105kg customer riding at 110Nm got 35km and upgraded to 800Wh. For most riders doing two to three hours at a time, 600Wh is enough. All 2026 Focus eMTBs are pre-configured for the Bosch Powermore 250 extender (850Wh total). EBB has been a Bosch eBike specialist since 2014.
Focus eMTBs and SE QLD Trails
From our Milton store, you can ride to the Gap Creek trail network in about 20 minutes. Here is a rough guide for the Focus range on SE QLD trails:
- New to mountain biking? Start at Daisy Hill — smooth flow trails, fire road connectors, and nothing that will catch you off guard.
- Thron2 territory: Green and blue trails at Gap Creek, Daisy Hill, D'Aguilar.
- Jam2 territory: Full range — greens, blues and blacks at Ironbark, Bunya and Gap Creek. Combi, Wallaby, and the tech sections at the back of Ironbark.
- Sam2 territory: Pipeline at Gap Creek, Mount Joyce, Clear Mountain, Boomerang Bike Park, fast and rough trails at Ironbark.
Real Riders. Real Results.
Ken West — 2025 QLD eMTB and Masters 2 Downhill State Champion — raced his Focus Sam2 6.9 straight out of the box all season. The Sam2 took him to the podium at Stanthorpe and to the top step at the Outlaw Downhill Series in Coffs Harbour.
In May 2026, ten Electric Bikes Brisbane customers completed the Orange 360 — 376km and 3,360m of climbing through central NSW. Neville, in his late 70s and coming from a road cycling background, completed the full route on his Focus Sam2 6.9. Rod, recently retired and new to cycling, completed it on his 2022 Focus Jam2. "For both of them to have done something like the Orange 360 when they haven't come from a riding background is phenomenal," says Sam. "We are very proud of them."
Many of our Focus customers are still riding the same bike four to five years later — not because they cannot afford to upgrade, but because they do not want to. That is the best thing we can hear.
Frequently Asked Questions — Focus eMTB Brisbane
How much range can I expect from a 2026 Focus eMTB?
In standard eMTB mode, our co-owner Sam gets 50-55km from the 600Wh battery riding hard for two to three hours on trails like Kombi at Ironbark. A 105kg customer riding at 110Nm was getting around 35km per ride and upgraded to 800Wh. For most recreational riders, 600Wh is sufficient. All 2026 Focus eMTBs are pre-configured for the Bosch Powermore 250 range extender (850Wh total).
What is the difference between the Focus Jam2 and the Focus Sam2?
The Jam2 (160/150mm travel) is an all-mountain bike — fast, fun and capable on green to black trails. The Sam2 (170mm travel, coil shocks, mullet wheels, 220mm rotors) is a downhill and enduro machine for steep, rough terrain. The Jam2 is more nimble in tight terrain and climbs more efficiently. The Sam2 comes into its own the faster and rougher the trail gets.
Is the Focus Sam2 suitable for beginners?
The Sam2 is designed for experienced riders chasing bigger terrain. For beginners, the Thron2 is the recommended starting point — relaxed geometry, capable suspension, room to progress. Daisy Hill is our recommended first trail for new mountain bikers in Brisbane.
Why buy a Focus eMTB from Electric Bikes Brisbane?
We have been a Platinum Focus dealer since 2015. Sam (co-owner), Alexander (head technician) and Alex (senior technician) all ride Focus eMTBs personally on SE QLD trails. We build and test every bike before handover, and as a Platinum dealer we have access to Focus-specific parts and knowledge that most other dealers do not. Our Milton workshop is 20 minutes from Gap Creek.
What is the best electric mountain bike for beginners in Brisbane?
The Thron2 is the best starting point — stable, comfortable, and capable on green and blue trails. We recommend Daisy Hill as the first trail for new mountain bikers in Brisbane. Visit our Milton store for a test ride.
Can I test ride a Focus eMTB before buying?
Yes. The 2026 Focus eMTB range is available for test rides at our Milton store. From the shop you can ride to Gap Creek in about 20 minutes — a proper test, not just a lap of the car park. Book through our website or call us.
