The Entice has a more off-road-oriented tyre tread and a sportier geometry than the Endeavour — still upright and comfortable, but more planted and stable when conditions get rougher. The Image is Kalkhoff's purely urban model. Understanding the Level System

Level 1 — The Starting Point

German engineering and a Bosch motor at an accessible entry price. The Kalkhoff Endeavour 1 was ranked #4 in the 2025 CHOICE Magazine best electric bikes test — beating the majority of the field, including many bikes at higher price points. With the Bosch Performance Line CX motor, dual suspension, a 170kg system weight rating, and the option of ABS braking (on the 7+ ABS), this is the model for riders who want to go further, carry more, and ride rougher terrain in comfort. The 2026 Entice 7+ ABS recently placed Silver at the Focus eBike Design Award and received a top rating from ElektroRad in the SUV eBike category. Level L — Lightweight

The entire Kalkhoff range is capable of the BVRT. The trail is well-graded and manageable on hybrid tyres for the majority of its length. The northern section near Yarraman is rougher — if you plan to ride that section, the Entice's off-road tread gives you more confidence on loose gravel and occasional creek crossings. For the southern sections (Fernvale to Esk), the Endeavour or Image handles conditions comfortably. If you are planning the full trail, the Entice is the safer all-conditions choice.

Three Days on the BVRT: Practical Setup Tips

These tips come from EBB's own experience and from our Owners Club members who have ridden the full trail multiple times:

•  • Luggage: Decide what you need, then take less. A rear rack with waterproof panniers and a small handlebar bag covers most riders. Leave room for your charger — it is the one thing you do not want to forget.

•  • Battery management: The BVRT is well set up for eBike riders. Charging stations exist at information centres along the trail, and most cafes, pubs and restaurants along the route welcome BVRT riders and are happy to let you charge. The top tip: plug in every time you stop for lunch. You will arrive at camp with a comfortable buffer every evening.

•  • Tyre pressure: Most of the BVRT is hard-packed and does not require adjustment. If conditions are wet or you hit loose gravel sections, reduce tyre pressure slightly for better traction and comfort — similar to the principle used in four-wheel driving. Stay within your tyre's safe pressure range.

•  • Navigation: The BVRT is well signposted and easy to follow. If you plan to explore off-trail, mount your phone using a Bosch Smartphone Grip and run the Bosch eBike Flow app for navigation and battery monitoring.
