Is Buying at EOFY Worth It?
EOFY is one of the best windows of the year to buy a quality e-bike in Australia. The discounts are real because retailers like us are making room for new-year stock — not running a marketing event. If you've been comparing models for a while, EOFY is the time to act. Most of the bikes in this sale won't be reordered in the same spec or price point.
There's also a tax angle worth discussing with your accountant. If you use an e-bike primarily for commuting to work, you may be able to claim a deduction on the work-related portion of use. Some employers also offer salary sacrifice arrangements for e-bikes, which can reduce the effective purchase price by removing GST and lowering your taxable income. The ATO has confirmed FBT exemption can apply to e-bikes under specific salary packaging arrangements (ATO Class Ruling CR 2020/68). As always — speak to your accountant before you buy.
How to Choose the Right Bike from the Sale
The right EOFY deal depends on how and where you'll ride. Here's a quick guide:
- • Flat commute, 5–20km each way: Any electric bike in our range! For great price reductions and excellent functionality look at the Kalkhoff Endeavour or Entice series — quiet Bosch motors, fully equipped and good carrying capacity, and built to handle Brisbane's humidity over the long term.
- • Hilly terrain or mixed commute/weekend riding: The Focus Aventura2 or Kalkhoff Entice handle SE Queensland hills well and transition easily between commuter and weekend riding. Strong high torque motors with an all-terrain build that works well on bitumen roads as well as gravel and light offroad.
