FAQs

Where are Orbea electric bikes made?

Orbea ebikes are made onsite in Orbea's factory in Mallabia, Spain.

What is Orbea's best electric bike?

They are all excellent! If you judge this on press and industry awards, while many of Orbea's bikes are widely awarded, the Orbea Wild eMTB might take the crown for having won the most awards.

What Is the Difference Between the Orbea Muga and the Orbea Kemen?

The Orbea Muga and Orbea Kemen are designed for different types of adventure riding. The Orbea Muga is a dual-suspension adventure e-bike with a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear (mullet) wheel setup, 120mm of Fox suspension, a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, and up to 1,000Wh of total battery capacity with the optional Bosch PowerMore range extender. It is built for rough gravel roads, technical terrain, and multi-day bikepacking adventures. The Orbea Kemen is a lighter hardtail adventure e-bike with 100mm front suspension, a Shimano EP6 motor, and a battery capacity of up to 630Wh (expandable to 882Wh). It is better suited to gravel riding, commuting, and everyday adventure touring. Both models feature integrated Supernova lighting and a 30kg-rated MIK HD rear rack.

How Far Can You Ride on an Orbea Muga or Orbea Kemen?

The riding range of an Orbea Muga or Orbea Kemen depends on factors such as terrain, rider weight, assist mode, weather, and tyre pressure. The Orbea Muga's 750Wh battery typically delivers around 80–120km of mixed adventure riding, while adding the optional 250Wh Bosch PowerMore range extender increases total capacity to 1,000Wh for longer multi-day rides. The Orbea Kemen also offers impressive real-world range. During the 100km Brissie to Bay ride, Sam completed the event using the standard 540Wh battery and still had approximately 40% charge remaining.

Are the Orbea Muga and Orbea Kemen Good for the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail?

Yes. The Orbea Muga and Orbea Kemen are excellent choices for the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) and other Australian rail trails. Both bikes are designed for mixed-surface riding, comfortably handling gravel, rough country roads, creek crossings, and sealed sections. They are equally capable of tackling the full 161km Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, continuing onto the Kingaroy Link Trail, the South Burnett Rail Trail, and through to Gympie, making them ideal bikes for adventure touring across South East Queensland.

Is the Orbea Muga a Good Off-Road Adventure eBike?

Yes. The Orbea Muga is one of the most capable off-road adventure e-bikes available. Its dual-suspension frame, mullet wheel configuration, and mountain bike-inspired geometry allow it to confidently tackle rough trails, steep climbs, rocky descents, and technical terrain that many traditional touring bikes cannot handle. At the same time, it comfortably carries panniers and touring gear for long-distance adventures, making it a genuinely unique option for riders who want both off-road capability and touring practicality.

What Motor Does the Orbea Muga Use?

The Orbea Muga is powered by the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, producing 85Nm of torque for smooth, powerful assistance on steep climbs and rough terrain. Depending on the model, it is paired with either a 600Wh or 750Wh Bosch PowerTube battery and is compatible with the optional Bosch PowerMore 250Wh range extender, increasing total battery capacity to 1,000Wh.

Can You Customise an Orbea Muga or Orbea Kemen with Orbea MyO?

Yes. The Orbea MyO customisation program allows you to personalise your Orbea Muga or Orbea Kemen with a choice of frame colours, paint finishes, decals, and selected component options. Orbea is one of the few e-bike manufacturers to offer this level of factory customisation, allowing riders to create a bike that reflects their own style before it is built.

What Warranty Does Orbea Offer on the Muga and Kemen?

Orbea backs both the Muga and Kemen with a lifetime frame warranty for the original owner after registration. The Bosch and Shimano drive systems are covered by their standard manufacturer warranties, typically two years for the motor and battery. At Electric Bikes Brisbane, all warranty assessments and servicing are carried out by our experienced in-house workshop.

How Much Do the Orbea Muga and Orbea Kemen Cost in Australia?

The Orbea Kemen range starts from $6,799 for the Kemen Adv 30 and extends to $8,799 for the Kemen Adv 10. The Orbea Muga range starts from $9,499 for the Muga 30 and reaches $12,899 for the flagship Muga 10. Prices include GST. As an Orbea Platinum Dealer, Electric Bikes Brisbane can also assist with finance options and ordering through the Orbea MyO customisation program.

Where Can I Test Ride an Orbea Muga or Orbea Kemen in Brisbane?

Some bikes are built for the trail. Some for the commute. The Orbea Muga and Orbea Kemen are built for the long ride — the kind that starts before dawn, crosses three suburbs, and ends somewhere you’ve never been before. At Electric Bikes Brisbane, we stock both of Orbea’s adventure touring e-bikes and we’ve put serious kilometres on each of them. If you’re looking for an Orbea adventure ebike that can handle Queensland’s rail trails, hinterland gravel, and everything in between, you’ve found the right page.

Two Bikes. One Mission. Very Different Characters.

The Muga and the Kemen share the same spirit — ride further, ride loaded, ride confidently — but they are distinctly different bikes that suit different riders.

The Orbea Muga is genuinely unlike anything else on the market. A dual-suspension mullet setup (29” front, 27.5” rear), 120mm of Fox suspension travel front and rear, a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, and up to 1,000Wh of total battery capacity. It looks like a mountain bike, rides like a mountain bike on technical terrain, and yet it carries a 30kg MIK HD rack, integrated Supernova lighting, and a patented four-position adjustable cockpit. Most people don’t expect a mountain bike to be a serious tourer. The Muga changes that expectation immediately.

Our own Sam rode the Muga 20 on the 2026 Orange 360 — 376km over six days, looping from Orange through Molong, Canowindra, Cowra, Neville Siding, and Millthorpe, across gravel backroads, farmland, and state forest tracks. Day four was 83km with 1,300m of climbing. The Muga handled it without complaint. “Extremely comfortable — you can ride for long hours day after day,” Sam says. “It has the athleticism and fun of a mountain bike, but it can tackle rough and steep terrain with confidence and handle the unexpected without drama.”

The Orbea Kemen Adv is a different proposition — lively, responsive, and built around a lighter hardtail chassis with 100mm of Fox front suspension and Schwalbe Johnny Watts tyres on 29” wheels. Where the Muga soaks up whatever terrain throws at it, the Kemen comes alive on gravel. It’s a bike that works hard with you rather than cushioning you from the road. Shimano EP6 motor, integrated battery up to 630Wh (plus an optional 252Wh range extender), full Supernova lighting, and a 30kg MIK HD rack on the Adv models. It’s also one of the more visually striking bikes in the Orbea range — unique without being loud — and versatile enough to handle the daily commute as easily as a multi-day tour.

Proven on Queensland’s Best Adventure Routes

We don’t just sell these bikes — we ride them on the routes we recommend to our customers. Sam completed the Kosciusko to the Sea ride on an Orbea Kemen 10: five days, 309km, 4,466m of climbing, from Charlotte’s Pass to Tathra on the NSW south coast, through snow on Day 2 and cattle stations on Day 3. The Kemen never missed a beat.

For SE Queensland adventure riding, we’d take both bikes the full length of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail in a heartbeat — and we’d keep going. Pick up the rougher link trail to Kingaroy, connect to the South Burnett Rail Trail to Kilkivan, and continue all the way to Gympie. That’s a mix of gravel, rougher country roads, the occasional creek crossing, and bitumen connectors: exactly the terrain these bikes are designed for.

A key lesson from the Orange 360: for a serious multi-day tour, plan on having at least 1,000Wh of battery available each day. The Muga’s 750Wh main battery plus the optional 250Wh PowerMore range extender gets you there. For the Kemen, the optional 252Wh range extender pairs with the standard 630Wh battery to cover even the biggest days — Sam rode the full 100km Brissie to the Bay on the Kemen’s main 540Wh battery and still had 40% charge remaining at the finish.

Who Rides These Bikes?

Our Kemen Adv customers tend to be a little younger, love the bike’s liveliness on gravel and unsealed roads, and often want a machine that doubles as a sharp commuter during the week. The Kemen is striking to look at — it turns heads — and its versatility appeals to riders who don’t want to choose between adventure touring and day-to-day practicality.

Our Muga customers are typically in their 40s and 50s, have years of cycling behind them, and are looking for something that performs at the highest level without compromise. They appreciate the dual-suspension comfort on long days, the mountain bike capability for when the trail turns rough, and the uniqueness of a bike that genuinely has no direct competitor. Orbea picked up the Muga on EBB’s Top 5 Electric Bikes for 2026 list — it’s that good.

Built for the Long Haul — Literally

Both bikes are equipped for multi-day touring out of the box: integrated Supernova lighting front and rear, MIK HD rack systems compatible with Ortlieb QL3.1 panniers, full internal cable routing, and a maximum rider load of 130kg. The Muga’s adjustable cockpit offers four handlebar positions to dial in your riding posture across different terrain and distances.

Servicing these bikes is straightforward at EBB — our workshop is accredited for Bosch, Shimano, and Avinox motor systems, as well as Fox suspension and SRAM/Shimano drivetrains. A performance-focused adventure bike requires genuine technical knowledge to maintain; that’s exactly what our team provides.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Orbea Muga and the Orbea Kemen?

The Muga is a dual-suspension mullet-setup e-bike with 120mm of Fox suspension travel, a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, and up to 1,000Wh of total battery capacity. It excels on rough terrain, steep gravel, and demanding multi-day tours. The Kemen is a hardtail with 100mm front suspension, a Shimano EP6 motor, and a battery up to 630Wh (extendable to 882Wh). It is lighter, livelier on gravel, and more versatile for riders who also commute. Both carry full Supernova lighting and a 30kg MIK HD rack.

How far can I ride on a single charge?

Range depends on terrain, rider weight, assist level, and conditions. The Muga’s 750Wh main battery is typically sufficient for 80–120km of mixed adventure riding. Add the optional 250Wh PowerMore range extender and you have up to 1,000Wh total — enough for the biggest days on a multi-day tour. Sam completed the 100km Brissie to Bay ride on the Kemen’s standard 540Wh battery and still had 40% charge remaining at the finish line.

Are these bikes good for rail trails like the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail?

Yes — both bikes are excellent on the BVRT and similar mixed-surface rail trail routes. We’d happily ride either bike the full BVRT length, continuing on the link trail to Kingaroy and along the South Burnett Rail Trail to Kilkivan and Gympie. The terrain mix of gravel, rough country roads, creek crossings, and bitumen connectors is exactly what these bikes are designed for.

Is the Orbea Muga genuinely off-road capable?

Yes, and most riders are surprised by this. The Muga’s dual suspension, mullet wheel setup, and mountain bike geometry mean it handles rough terrain, steep climbs, and technical descents with real confidence — the kind of terrain most adventure tourers would avoid. Think of it as a mountain bike that can also carry your panniers and ride 100km days. It is a genuinely unique concept in the market.

What motor does the Orbea Muga use?

The Muga uses the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor, producing 85Nm of torque. It is paired with a Bosch PowerTube integrated battery (600Wh or 750Wh depending on model) and is compatible with the Bosch PowerMore 250Wh range extender.

What motor does the Orbea Kemen Adv use?

The Kemen Adv uses the Shimano EP6 (EP600) motor, rated at 85Nm. It is paired with a 540Wh or 630Wh integrated battery (depending on model) and is compatible with a 252Wh range extender. Orbea uses its own higher-density battery manufacturing for the Kemen, which delivers strong real-world range figures relative to the stated capacity.

Can I customise my Orbea Muga or Kemen with the MyO program?

Yes — Orbea is the only e-bike brand to offer deep customisation through their MyO configurator. You can personalise your frame colour, finish, decals, and selected components. Orbea is unique in offering this level of personalisation; no other manufacturer in our range does the same.

Does Orbea offer a warranty on these bikes?

Orbea provides a lifetime warranty on their frames — one of only a handful of brands that offer this. Motor and battery warranties follow Bosch and Shimano’s standard terms (typically 2 years). All warranty work is handled in-house at our Milton workshop.

How much do Orbea adventure e-bikes cost in Australia?

The Orbea Kemen Adv range starts from $6,799 (Adv 30) up to $8,799 (Adv 10). The Orbea Muga range starts from $9,499 (Muga 30) up to $12,899 (Muga 10). Prices include GST. We are a Platinum Orbea dealer and can assist with financing options — contact us in store or via our website.

Where can I test ride an Orbea Muga or Kemen in Brisbane?

Our Milton store carries stock of both models for test rides. There is free parking right out front. We recommend booking ahead to ensure your preferred model and size is ready. Visit us at our Milton store or get in touch online to arrange a time.
